Finding Your Destination

Each time you get into the car you have to decide which road to take. Some will lead you to your destination, others won’t. You may unexpectedly find a road closed and have to change direction. You may take a detour or two and if you are anything like me, you may take a wrong turn too many and wind up further from your destination than when you started. Life is no different. Each day we are faced with choices. Some of those choices will ultimately lead us to our destination and some of them will lead you away from … Continue reading

Do Not Let Your Past Define You

We’ve all made mistakes in our lives. What is important is that we are able to move past them and go forward with our lives. They do not define who we are; they are simply bumps in the road to where we ultimately want to be; without them we would not be where we are today. From each mistake made is a lesson to be learned. Perhaps you learned who you don’t want to be. Perhaps it was something smaller. Regardless, you took something away from that decision. You have no control over your past; it cannot be changed, but … Continue reading

Teaching Your Children Your Morals

Not all homeschooling families are religious, but many are, and have chosen to incorporate their values into their homeschool curriculums. This is true of me and my family. We are Latter-day Saints, and we choose to make our religion an integral part of our lives. This overflows into everything from our interactions with each other to the way we approach certain subjects—creationism rather than evolution, for instance. The other night, I had an experience that made me sit back and look at my daughter in a new light. She has been taught from infancy what we believe, and I know … Continue reading

Keep Your Business Thriving By Keeping Customers Happy

Home based professionals know that when it comes to keeping their small businesses on the path to success, customer satisfaction can be a deciding factor as to whether or not a home-based business (or any business, for that matter) will continue to thrive. While attracting a stream of new customers to your business is certainly important, focusing on the needs of present customers in such a way that keeps them coming back again and again is absolutely essential for success. Repeat business and happy customers that tell their friends to buy your products or use your services can create more … Continue reading

Choosing Your Path

Each decision we make in this life leads us down a different path. We make choices every day that affect our future and more importantly the future of our children. We come to a fork in the road and are faced with a choice. Which path will we choose? How will we know what is right? Have you ever wondered how things might have been different if you had chosen the other path? The decision to get divorced changed our lives forever. For most of us the decision was the right one. I sometimes wonder what life would have been … Continue reading

Declare Your Independence By Working At Home

There is something special about the month of July. Perhaps it is the spirit of Independence Day that keeps me feeling inspired all month long. Maybe it is the beautiful summer weather that allows me to enjoy my flexible home-based work schedule to the fullest. Perhaps it is both of these things that make me feel like July is a wonderful month to celebrate being a home-based professional. July is a wonderful time to celebrate freedom and independence. We live in a place where in large part, we have a great deal of freedom to be who we are and … Continue reading

Young Women: “Stay on the Path”

In her talk “Stay on the Path” Sister Elaine S Dalton spoke specifically to Young Women. She opens the talk by sharing a story about a hiking trail in a nearby canyon. The trail has a sign that reads “Stay on the Path.” This is especially important in this canyon because of the rough terrain, possible rattlesnakes, and unstable areas. Sister Dalton then shares an experience she had hiking with young women. There was a section of the hike called “Hurricane Pass,” because of the strong winds there. The young women were instructed to stay in the center of the … Continue reading

Visiting Teaching: Strengthening Your Personal Testimony of Jesus Christ

The visiting teaching message for February urges us to strengthen our personal testimonies of the Savior. As we do so, we can become tools in the hands of our Heavenly Father, acting out His will on this Earth and serving Him as He would have us do. The message first addresses the question of how to strengthen ones testimony. As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we should already have a testimony of our Savior. If we do not, it is imperative that we seek to cultivate and develop one. Without a firm, strong testimony, staying … Continue reading

The Yoga Path

I thought it would be helpful to outline some of the ways that yoga has changed the way I live my life. From time to time, I will be adding to the story of my path for anyone who is curious, or who is also choosing yoga for their main form of exercise. When I say “exercise,” I am including the mental and spiritual work that has become stronger as I start understanding how the mind and body work together a little more each day. My hope is that as a yoga instructor, I will inspire others to live a … Continue reading
