Delightful Valentine’s Day Printables

I’ve discovered that Valentine’s Day is a great way to practice writing. So has my daughter, much to her chagrin, as she works on printing Valentines neatly. Neatness is not at the top of her priority list, but I’ve emphasized that people like to receive legible love notes. Picky, picky. If you’re creating some Valentine’s Day goodies and doing some covert printing practice too, you’ll love these Valentine’s Day printables! Of course, the ultimate Valentine’s Day printable is the card itself! There are many, many free cards on the internet, and you can also print out heart shapes by the … Continue reading

How to Prepare Your Wardrobe for the Holidays

Have you ever found yourself at the last minute trying to find a tie or a belt or a clean dress shirt for someone? Between holiday parties and various holiday events, such as Christmas choir, I am afraid that I have found myself in that situation. I remember last year, having to run out the night before a concert to get dress pants, shirt and tie for my oldest son, who grew out of his dressy clothes. The run to the store was not fun, and I probably paid more than I should have paid, because I was in an … Continue reading

Rick Smith and Bruce Lourie Explore Everyday Dangers

When I read the title of Rick Smith and Bruce Lourie’s new book, I freaked out a bit. It is called “Slow Death by Rubber Duck: The Secret Danger of Everyday Things.” My son’s bathtub is filled with rubber ducks. Smith and Lourie did things we each do every day. For two days, they ate, showered, shampooed, and played Guitar Hero on the sofa. But, one thing they did that we don’t do every day is they took blood and urine samples to monitor for toxins. While their research noted that they had levels of the seven toxins for which … Continue reading

Choosing a Day Care

Most parents do not look forward to sending their child to day care. They do it out of necessity. However, for the parents of special needs children, the opportunity to send your child to day care should be viewed as a blessing. It means that your child is developmentally ready to take on new physical and social challenges. I highly recommend, though, that you resist sending your child to a traditional day care just to prove to the world and yourself how “normal” he or she is. If you live in a smaller city, you may not have a choice, … Continue reading

Make one post/update to your social networking site of choice and all your friends get the news at the same time.
