Business Marketing 101: Your Resume

Last week I wrote a blog that covered all the ways we can market our home business. We are starting with the resume, which is really the foundation to marketing. Having a resume is important because it contains all of your skills, qualifications, training and experience. But even more importantly, almost every potential employer requires that you have one. Think of a resume as really the first impression … Continue reading

Scrap a Header for Your Blog

There are so many people out there with scrapbooking blogs. Hundreds. I would venture to say there are thousands. The web is amazing. Many of these blogs are for sharing layouts, creating challenges, starting up a scrapbooking business, or a mix of scrapbooking and personal blogging. Whatever your scrapbook blog might be, you can add some personality to it by scrapping your own header for your blog. Starting Your Own Niche Site

Like myself, many single parents tend to work solely from home so we can take care of our kids, perhaps home school them, and try to fill as many roles as possible in our children’s lives. Though there are a hundred scams for every one legitimate WAH business, there are some solid ways to help make ends meet. Freelance writing is one, as well as Internet marketing. These days, most families have access to the internet, which gives you a virtual money-making machine right at your fingertips. All it takes is some time and perseverance, and a healthy dose of … Continue reading

Starting A Collection For Fun and Learning

When home schooling kids there are so many things you can do that incorporate fun and learning. Then again, not having a structured curriculum often leaves you coming up blank with something new to do. This is where starting a collection comes in handy. I always tried to get as much education out of even the smallest activity. Think about it, just baking a cake can incorporate math, nutrition, history, time management, safety, and even spelling. The educational value and fun factor involved with starting and maintaining a collection is unlimited. Each of my three home schooled girls started a … Continue reading

Starting Over with Nothing Part 2

As I mentioned in Starting Over With Nothing Part 1, the first thing you need to do after complete home devastation after a flood or fire is to get photographs on your walls and rebuild some memories. The next thing you do is to provide necessary furniture for your home. Just because you are doing it in a hurry though does not mean you should make rushed purchases which you can later come to regret. The first things you need to purchase are beds. Being able to sleep comfortable will help you to deal with all of the difficult chores … Continue reading

Frugal Food: Three Ways to Do Leftovers

Whether your leftovers are planned or just accidental, they can help you to save money when you actually use them instead of tossing them, as most people tend to do. Here are three different ways you can do leftovers. The Bait and Switch If you go for a restaurant meal, each order a favorite and then when it arrives, halve each plate so that you only plan on eating half of the meal (fill up on any bread and salad that is brought to the table). Get the other halves of your meals to go and plan on eating them … Continue reading

Just because we know that what used to be is no more and that we need to build a new life, does not necessarily mean that we know what to do. Here are a few tips for getting down to the basics of starting over… 1. Let Go…you cannot start a new life or even move in a new direction until you let go of the old. This means any clinging, clutching, or resistance … Continue reading
